Job Summary

This position will be responsible for the accuracy of the cost associated with bills of material (BOM) and shop routers in all product codes.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development, improvement/implementation of processes associated with cost analysis of BOM’s and routings.
  • Setup/maintain item codes (raw materials, semi-finished goods, finished goods) and BOM.
  • Support cost accounting in reviewing cost structure.
  • Will conduct time and motion studies, measuring work patterns and methods of employees & machinery with the purpose of ensuring the accuracy of costs associated with manufacturing parts and processes.
  • Check BOM run rates for reasonableness and validate costs with cost accounting.
  • Maintain BOMs and routings, work with plant supervisors to ensure BOMs are operationally correct and maintained.
  • Tracks costs and production activities to provide insight into areas needing cost reduction and process or profit improvement
  • Engage with production operators to validate run rates with time studies where necessary.
  • Follow up and resolve variations in a timely manner.
  • Investigate databases for inconsistencies, errors, etc. on a routine basis.
  • Reviews item properties for update with production, quality, engineering, accounting/ finance, and other departments as needed.
  • Support engineering change process as needed to ensure impact to part costs are accurately implemented.
  • Develop and maintain basic product, manufacturing, and quality knowledge. Keep informed of new products or services and other general information.
  • Offer and obtain assistance from peers or supervisor when needed. Maintain flexibility in performing other related task or functions as required or assigned.
  • Ensures accurate costs associated with BOM’s Records/routings and keeps records up to date.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings. Supports implementation of cost savings measures.
  • Secondary duties will include the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of BOM’s and routing for all products.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office -Excel in particular
  • Good understanding of how the various items that contribute to cost of an item come together for a total part cost.
  • Understands how activities and their cost are linked to products and processes
  • Able to read, interpret, and extract relevant information from technical prints and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capability to multitask and work with tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Must have strong mathematical skills

Education


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree in finance or cost accounting preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or cost accounting a plus.

Work Experience


  • 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with experience in the application of time studies and part cost roll up.


Physical Requirements


  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
