Job Description

BCBA will provide in-home assessments, supervision, and parent training.

BCBA will have experience with implementing functional behavior assessments with children with autism, recognizing and discussing signs of autism and criteria for autism spectrum disorder, and participating in clinical teams with other autism professionals.

BCBA will have a strong clinical background in administering verbal behavior assessments, conducting language, play, and skill-based assessments, and in designing, implementing, and/or training others using individualized language, play and skill-based curricula. BCBA will have supervised experience in 1:1 education of learners with autism across educational and community settings, as well as familiarity with designing, participating in, or supervising in-home 1:1 programs for young individuals with autism. Collecting, graphing, analyzing, displaying and discussing data based progress is a must.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • General knowledge of the developmental disabilities system in New Jersey.
  • Solid knowledge of the principles and practice of Applied Behavior Analysis. This includes general behavioral assessment and Ethical Standards in Behavior Analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of the behavioral impact of developmental disabilities, as well as the cognitive, educational, vocational and social challenges encountered by persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/goals for self and others. Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels. Effective and creative negotiator and problem solver.
  • Ability to work effectively with various technology including word processing software, internet based databases, etc.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license Training/Education:
  • Masters Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related field, preferably from an ABA accredited program.
  • Training and certification under the Behavior Analysis Certification Program (BACB) for Applied Behavior Analysis as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Experience:

  • Minimum two years experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

  • Requires the ability to travel to various locations to meet with families, providers, etc.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Must be capable and knowledgeable about handling individuals in crisis
  • Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing environment.

Job duties

Include, but not limited to the following:

  • Conduct initial and concurrent assessments and develop individualized treatment plans every six months.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and develop Behavior Intervention Plans during the initial assessment or at the onset of problem behavior.
  • Review treatment plans and behavior intervention plans with the client’s parent/caregiver before initiating. Make sure parents sign off on all plans.
  • Inform Director if additional service hours are needed for assessments, training, or supervision.
  • Conduct data analysis, update goals and objectives, data sheets, and bring instructional materials to the clients session weekly.
  • Supervision/Observation:
  • Supervises/provides intensive individualized ABA therapy services directed toward the development and/or enhancement of skills necessary for emotional, cognitive, behavioral, language, and interpersonal growth of the student.
  • Supervision must be 20% of the direct therapy hours (50% of that supervision must be direct supervision of the client and therapist).
  • Feedback based on the supervision of the behavior therapist may be delivered during the direct therapy sessions, individual meetings, or group meetings and should be documented in the BCBA Progress Notes.
  • Check Positive Pathways Behavior Services email address weekly.
  • Email Director if you are unable to provide supervision during any week the client is receiving therapy.
  • Train behavior therapists on skill acquisition programs and behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide instructional materials needed for therapy.
  • Schedule monthly clinics with family, therapists, and director as needed.
  • Provide parents and caregivers with training on Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Assist caregivers with IEPs, evaluations by other service providers, understanding of autism, Applied Behavior Analysis, and special education.
  • Coordinate care between school, home, and other service providers.
  • Monitors children for signs of child abuse, and reports incidents of suspected abuse to appropriate personnel immediately.
  • When possible provide direct services to clients if behavior therapist are unable.
  • Inform Director of any problems or concerns with staff, clients, client’s family, and systems or procedures used by Positive Pathways Behavior Services.
  • Assist Director in conducting annual evaluations of behavior therapists.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and behavior therapists including scheduling home programming.
  • Alert Director if scheduling problems arise that cannot be resolved.
  • Supervise BCBA, BCaBa, and RBT candidates at BCBA’s discretion.
  • Attends meetings, events, trainings, workshops, and seminars as required by Positive Pathways Behavior Services.
  • Maintains advanced working knowledge of early childhood education and development practices and standards, and principles of applied behavioral analysis.
  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of integrity, responsibility, accountability, teamwork and ethics.
  • Adheres to all policies, procedures and standard practices of Positive Pathways Behavior Services.
