Summary:

Clayton County Health District seeks to hire a qualified candidate for the position of Billing Specialist Supervisor. Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Performs a variety of billing functions that includes the preparation and distribution of invoices, processing payments and payment approval. Analyzes billing data and prepares reports for revenue and expenditures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Balances receipts and post payments to patient and Medicaid billing records.

· Accurately posts data to patient's account records - according to source of payment, date received and posted for checks and balance.

· Balance cash receipt journals and/or patient account ledgers accurately and according to applicable time frames.

· Monitors and works Medicaid and third-party billing.

· Ensure that clinics/departments are current with monthly Medicaid billing checking logs for dates submitted. Follow-up to assure that file transmissions are successful. Investigate to the fullest any submissions that are not completed successfully.

· Transfer (FTPs) billing files for Billing to transmit to appropriate agency by the 5th working day of each month. Keep print out of information.

· Receive Medicaid & third-party remits, posts payments and adjustments correctly and works denials according to denial code as remits are sent. Check PaySpan reports when sent. Post within 2 days. Investigate any changes in reimbursements. Work to resolve issues in a timely manner.

· Attend job related training and staff development to maintain the knowledge and skill necessary to perform the job whenever possible to attend.

· Provide billing support to the clinics/departments, including file submissions due to staff down time.

· Prepares and mails statements of accounts and/or other routine mail outs.

· Prepare statements and any accompanying letters/memos according to prescribed procedures and time frames.

· Properly process statements for mailing.

· Regularly review returned mail and appropriately tracks forwarding addresses or other delivery problems. Resend when corrected, within 5 days of receipt.

· Feedback on discussion will be completed for BAWG (Billing Advisory Work Group) meetings.

· Brief supervisor on information given during BAWG meeting.

· Train clinic/department staff on all payor, CPT codes and Billing changes and updates.

· Assures that all credentialing for District Programs and medical personnel related to billing is completed within time frame requested.

· Work with all companies to maintain billing abilities of the district.

· Submit reports to Clinical and Nursing Director, Nurse Manager and Director of Operations quarterly that shows, billing submitted and billing pending.

· Continue to submit reports to management as requested to determine status of billing in the district.

· Continue reviewing and updating billing guidelines as needed to assure all deficiencies are addressed.

· Take a proactive approach when it comes to problem solving billing issues.

· Perform table updates to assure optimal fee billing.

· Manages Billing staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED AND Five years of experience supervising staff responsible for billing, budget or accounting activities OR two years of experience required at the lower-level Billing Clerk 3 (FIP072) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Work requires ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously

- Working Knowledge of computer software appropriate to the position. (Example; Word Excel and VHN/Harris)

- Experience in a medical or public health setting

- Ability to prioritize activities, manage time and complete assignments with minimal supervision

- Medicaid and Medicare billing experience

- Third party billing experience

- Working knowledge of CPT Coding

- Excellent customer service and oral communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of departmental personnel and outside clients.
