Sr. Benefits Analyst
Location: Houston, Texas
The Sr. Benefits Analyst for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Global Compensation & Benefits team, reporting to the US Benefits Supervisor. The Sr. Benefits Analyst will provide technical expertise and analytical support for a wide range of benefits plans and projects designed to support business strategies. The role will assist in recommending the design, implementation, and administration of innovative benefits programs and policies and will primarily be responsible for the following:
Administering benefits programs, including Health, Dental, Vision, Basic Life, Supplemental Life, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability insurance plans as well as 401(k) and Non-Qualified Retirement Plans
Managing benefits reporting initiatives across all benefits programs as required
Responding to all inquiries regarding benefits related matters for both employees and managers in a timely manner
Coordinating the annual open enrollment process, participate in development of materials for annual enrollment as well as recruiting efforts and new hire orientations
Providing mentorship and guidance to more junior members of the benefits team as well as to the larger HR organization
Responding to Short Term Disability claims that require payroll information
Maintaining employee benefits files, maintaining group benefits database, and updating employee benefit records
Collaborating with our Brand Management & Marketing team to ensure timely employee communications regarding benefits programs
Staying current with regards to all benefits related regulations and laws, such as, but not limited to, COBRA, ACA, HIPPA, ERISA, DOL and IRS.
Participating in and facilitates the reporting processes around Form 5500 and Form 1095-C
Assisting with the design and implementation of a global benefits strategy for Apache’s international locations
Collecting and analyzing Apache benefits data and completes and submits benefits surveys; reviewing information obtained from survey results and developing specific recommendations for management around benefits program related changes
Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships, and compliance testing
Perform plan audits. Prepare, collect and organize data for actuarial assessments. Review data in conjunction with actuarial evaluation task forces.
Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
Extensive knowledge and experience within benefits administration and specifically possessing an expertise of US benefit plans. Global benefits expertise is a plus.
Experience with HR ERP systems and management of benefits through partnership and understanding of a company’s HR systems
Bachelors degree in HR or related field
10+ years of relative experience in a corporate benefits team with experience working for a global Oil & Gas company preferred.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Strong communication, interpersonal, management, administrative, organizational, and leadership skills
Experience implementing sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems Competencies
