Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Basketball Referee will be responsible to assist in the daily operation of the program(s). Officiate at competitive athletic or sporting events. Detect infractions of rules and decide penalties according to established regulations. Includes all sporting officials, referees, and competition judges.
Essential Functions:
- Referee assigned game(s).
- Enforce the rules and regulations of assigned game(s).
- Assist site supervisor in maintaining orderly and fun atmosphere for assigned game(s).
- Maintain game records and information as directed by supervisor.
- Ensure safety is a priority at all times.
- Know all emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.
- Complete accident/incident reports as necessary and submit to supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
- Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations for assigned game/sport
- Previous experience with assigned game/sport
- Ability to perform strenuous physical activity
- Ability to adapt to changing working conditions
- Ability to work with diverse group of people
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain order in a group of people
- Ability to accept comments/criticism from others without internalizing
- Ability to maintain professional conduct at all times
- YMCA Program Instructor Certification and experience preferred
- Certification in CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire
- Excellent communication skills
Monday Nights - 6:00-9:00PM and Saturdays 11:00AM-7:00PM
