The Banquet Set-up team performs all tasks associated with setting up and breaking down of function rooms where banquet food service activities are performed. Additionally, work as a team to follow through with the proper and timely set-up and execution of banquet events.
This position reports to the Banquet Manager, retains relationships with peers and all other departments within the hotel, maintains relationships with current and prospective clients and guests.
(Core hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 2pm-6pm)
As a Set-up team member on our team, you will complete a variety of tasks which will include:
- Timely set-up and break down of all meeting and banquet rooms.
- Review and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) or Event Plan at the beginning of each shift to ensure banquet rooms are set as per the customer request.
- Ensure tables are set up with tablecloth neat and items properly placed.
- Communicate with the Banquet Captain regarding any special needs.
- Prepare tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert table/carts and cordial carts.
- Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
- Ensure proper use, storage of all meeting room equipment.
- Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the meeting room.
- Assist others with side work including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking, folding, silverware, etc.
- Other duties may be required and assigned from time-to-time.
The position is ideal for someone with the following experience and qualities:
1. One to two years of experience in a similar role in an upscale hotel.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
4. Use judgement and reasoning to cope with emergencies.
5. Exceptional knowledge and understanding of various banquet and food service techniques and standards.
