Rumson Country Club, a private club located on the beautiful Jersey Shore, is hiring for a Banquet Manager. At Rumson, our renowned food & beverage program is an integral piece of the Rumson Country Club experience, and we are looking for a talented individual to join our team.
Job Summary
Responsible for management of all private banquets, business and social meetings, golf outings and other member-related activities and events. Oversee all operational aspects of preparing and serving events, including the assurance of a high standard of appearance, hospitality and service in personnel and cleanliness of dining areas service in the manner most pleasing to members and guests. Supervise and train dining room staff; manage within budgetary restraints; develop/implement programs to increase satisfaction or members and staff. Work with banquet and other departments to assure that the guests’ expectations are exceeded. Will also work in the role of “dining room manager” when not supervising a private event/party.
Job Tasks (Duties)
- Works in conjunction with Food and Beverage Service Manager and Dining Room Managers to recruit, hire and train staff.
- Helps member clients arrange banquets, luncheons, meetings, weddings, dances, and other social events; obtains pertinent information needed for guest planning.
- On occasion, provides guest tours and offers suggestions in efforts to sell the club’s facilities for the occasion being planned.
- Works with the Chef to plan service, set-up, and run-of-show.
- Transmits necessary information to and coordinates event planning with production, serving and housekeeping staffs; arranges for printing of menus, procuring of decorations, entertainment, and other special requests, etc.
- Inspects finished arrangements; may be present to oversee the actual greeting and serving of guests.
- Checks function sheets against actual room set-up; oversees personnel scheduling for special functions and may help supervise service personnel.
- Handles complaints.
- Helps guests with parking, entertainment, decorations, audio/visual and any other requirements integral to events being planned.
- Critiques functions to determine future needs and to implement necessary changes for increased quality.
- Attends management meetings to review policies and procedures, upcoming business and to continually develop quality and image of banquet and catering functions.
- Maintains and updates banquet training manual for staff.
- Ensures the security of valuables (club’s, guests’ and members’ property) during catered events.
- Acts as MOD (Manager on duty) as needed.
- Plans professional development and training activities for subordinate staff.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
- Attends continuing education (CMAA) meetings, seminars etc. when appropriate.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must be available to work some Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
