GEICO is searching for a PIP Attorney to defend lawsuits against GEICO insureds and represents GEICO in subrogation, Uninsured Motorist (UM) and Underinsured Motorist (UIM), PIP lawsuits filed in courts of limited jurisdiction and, in the discretion of the Managing Attorney, in courts of unlimited jurisdiction.

Responsibilities:

• Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda

• Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department

• Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, to include depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath, and defending by trial or dispositive hearing, all matters assigned, as applicable

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

• Admitted to the Florida Bar and licensed in good standing to practice law in Florida.

• 1- 2 years of Civil litigation experience preferred.

• Insurance defense-related litigation experience preferred.

• Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the telephone, and through written correspondence.

• Strong organizational, priority setting, and multi-tasking skills.

• Ability to learn and apply technical and procedural information quickly and accurately.

• Must meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases.
