8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Department: R&D Anatomic Path Group - 709

Primary Purpose:

Develops, validates/verifies, and implements new clinical laboratory assays as well as improves current testing. Works under the oversight of the Medical Directorship and reports directly to the R&D Manager.

Essential Functions:

Under the appropriate direction and guidance, contributes to the design and execution of assay development and validation/verification for the technical section.

Troubleshoots, improves, and maintains the quality and integrity of current and new laboratory methods.

Communicates regularly with Medical Directors, R&D Manager, Scientists, and Technical Operations to relay project progress, experimental results, and data analysis.

Maintains knowledge of the field and emerging technologies that are applicable to test development.

Appropriately prioritizes projects and tasks and demonstrates effective skill in time management.

Presents data and results in regular lab meetings.

Participates in academic activities as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.

Continuing Education: Continual assessment of current literature and best practices.

Qualifications

Education

Required

Bachelor's Degree or better in Life Sciences or related field.

Experience

Required

Skill in basic laboratory techniques
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
