What We Do:
LumryzTM has been granted Orphan Drug Designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of narcolepsy. The designation was granted on the plausible hypothesis that LumryzTM may be clinically superior to a formulation of sodium oxybate already approved by the FDA for the same indication.


The FDA granted a tentative approval to LumryzTM on July 18, 2022. Tentative approval indicates that LumryzTM has met all required quality, safety, and efficacy standards necessary for approval in the U.S. FDA’s final approval decision for LumryzTM is pending expiration or other disposition of a patent listed in FDA’s Orange Book that expires on June 17, 2023. Avadel’s market research suggests that LumryzTM has the potential to command a meaningful share of the multi-billion-dollar narcolepsy treatment market.


We are currently taking steps to accelerate the final approval of LumryzTM earlier than the expiry of the patent in June 2023, however, in either case, we are gearing up for our full launch now. We can’t wait to bring an innovative new treatment option to the narcolepsy community.

Position Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to build and manage a world-class data and analytics environment. This is a highly visible role for someone who wants to roll up their sleeves and bring our vision of world class data management, analytics, and data science to life. This work will be focused on our first-launch brand and will be an instrumental part of a high performing Strategic Market Insight & Commercial Analytics (SMICA) team.

The Associate Director of & Commercial Analytics and Data Science will be responsible for the development and implementation of Avadel’s Commercial Analytics environment and all functional, field and headquarter reporting. This role will be responsible for all secondary data management, forecasting, business analytics, patient services support and integrating data together to have a holistic view on how to best understand the narcolepsy market to ultimately turn insights into action. S/He will be instrumental in shaping the insights supporting launch performance and brand health tracking. S/He will be accountable for identifying new and emerging business issues and identifying data science approaches to addressing these issues and solving problems across the entire Commercial Organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Commercial Analytics:
    • Lead all aspects of commercial data management, key performance indicators, and field, functional, and headquarter reporting. Manage external partners to maintain smooth and efficient data management and operations.
    • Translate data research and numbers into actionable insights that are focused on generating superior patient outcomes.
    • Connect multiple data sources to create a more holistic view of the U.S. market; continually identify new data sources that will enable a more complete, holistic views
    • Construct and update Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards.
    • Manage and lead Advanced Analytical projects (segmentation, targeting, journey analytics, promotional response, predictive triggers to name a few)
    • Develop and track performance for short- and long-range forecasts.
  • Brand Performance: Monitor regular brand performance and prepare monthly insights deliverable, performance updates, and ad hoc analyses based on synthesis / analysis of a variety of primary / secondary data sources (e.g., market research, prescribing data, competitive intelligence, field team feedback, customer feedback). Must have excellent knowledge of major US data sources, and ability to drive deep analytics on performance and market dynamics.
  • Market Research: Collaborate with other SMICA team members to understand and synthesize primary market research. This individual will be an expert in Insight Generation supporting US Brand and broader Commercial team.
  • Collaborate with all key stakeholders which includes sales, market access, medical, the R&D organization, finance, legal, HR and so many other key partners.
  • Drive the spirit of ONE Team across all functions to support a full team approach to focus on our patients and customers as our top priorities.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree required. Master's degree in Computer Sciences, Business, or related areas would be preferred.
  • 5-7 years in commercial analytics, 3 years in advanced data analytics, or related field with responsibilities in data strategy and governance, or digital analytics
  • Must have experience with life sciences data sources
  • Strong knowledge of Pharma and Life Sciences industry, with preference for individuals with Life Sciences consulting background.
