Hiring Range: $103,426 - $109,725
Full Range: $103,426 - $134,948

Schedule:
40 hours a week / 12 months a year.
Evening work schedule will be 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. as assigned.
Regular work schedule will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Position Duties

Summary
Under the direction of the Vice President of Educational Services, the Associate Dean of Educational Services administers and provides leadership for various instructional programs and grant-funded projects. The Associate Dean is responsible for the management and oversight of projects and/or programs that promote opportunities for students and the community to attend the college. Assist the college to advance efforts in enrollment, retention, student success, transfer to universities, and career readiness. The successful candidate will demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious background of community college students including first generation college students, re-entry students, and those currently and formerly incarcerated.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Serve as evening administrator when scheduled and as needed to oversee the overall operations of West Hills College Coalinga in support of the evening instructional programs.
  • Supervise and manage programmatic operations within an area or areas of the college to advance the mission of the college that may include a variety of occupational and non-occupational instructional programs as well as student learning support programs as well as direct supervision over grant funded programs and/or specialized program and operational areas of the college
  • Supervise and evaluate all part-time and full-time faculty and staff as assigned.
  • Provide instructional leadership to faculty; conduct periodic meetings to disseminate college information.
  • Participate in community engagement activities with local high schools, adult schools, correctional facilities, workforce boards, employers, and various community partners.
  • Facilitate the development of formal partnerships between the college and area high schools, local, state and federal agencies, four-year institutions, and community-based agencies, including business and industry that support grant-funded projects and for creating opportunities for work-based learning, internships, externships, field experiences, and apprenticeships.
  • Attend regional, state, and other conferences/meetings as appropriate to stay current with Education Code, Title 5, California Community College Chancellor’s Office, and for fulfilling objectives of assigned grant programs.
  • Participate fully in participatory governance including serving on WHCC college governance committees as assigned.
  • Assist faculty, including adjuncts and full time, in the development of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the determination of their effectiveness in helping students achieve their desired learning outcomes.
  • Assist in providing leadership for student success initiatives as assigned including those required by Ed Code and Title 5, recommended by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, driven by accreditation standards, as well as those developed by the college.
  • Assist with coordination of Advisory Committees in collaboration with discipline faculty, local businesses and employers, educational and community partners for the purposes of continuous improvement of existing degrees and certificates and the development of new degrees and certificates.
  • Assist in the preparation of fiscal, statistical and other reports including maintaining appropriate and necessary records and support materials for assigned grant-funded projects such as those awarded by state and federal agencies.
  • Develop and coordinate long range budget planning for assigned grant-funded projects, monitor grants, and area budgets to maintain compliance with state and federal grants.
  • Develop and coordinate long range planning of the assigned programs to advance the mission of the institution Represent the College President and the Vice President of Educational Services in matters relating to assigned programs.
  • Assist in the development of in-service professional development opportunities for instruction faculty, counselors, administrators, and classified staff.
  • Coordinate the promotion, marketing, and publicizing of assigned programs and services.
  • Provide instructional leadership to faculty including supporting curriculum development, design, and improvement, instructional andragogy and pedagogy and new and emerging credit and non-credit programs.
  • Coordinate the development of teaching assignments for assigned areas including the development of schedule of classes by time and location for Fall, Spring and Summer sessions in general and that support grant-funded projects to advance completion, transfer, and career readiness in consultation with appropriate staff, faculty, managers.
  • Review needs, initiate requests for positions, coordinate screening committees, interview, recommend for employment, and on-onboard new instructional faculty and staff as assigned.
  • Serve on various college committees as assigned.
  • Assist faculty in the use of contemporary teaching methods and technologies; incorporate the use of technology in performing instructional and non-instructional duties including distance education technologies, online class delivery, computerized & multi-media presentations, Microsoft Office Suite, and infusing technology into course content delivery.
  • Participate in institutional research projects and grants.
  • Provide leadership in program review and educational planning. Gather and monitor statistical and research data pertaining to degree and certificate programs, faculty workloads, FTES, FTEF, and other data and implement appropriate action.
  • Requires proficiency in customer relationship management system(s) for higher education, proficiency with software programs and ability to transfer files, import data, and use presentation software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bilingual preferred (not required).

Qualification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community organizations, and industry employers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development through memberships in regional, state and national organizations or other activities appropriate to the discipline or assignment.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills; effective written and oral skills.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of education programs, either occupational or non-occupational.
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience, preferably at the community college level.
  • Experience in managing effective organizational change highly desired.
  • Experience with instructional technology (design, implementation, and best practices).
  • Learn, train and supervise personnel in using the Ellucian management information system and its components.
Physical Abilities
Position requires the ability to exchange information, moderate lifting, bending, and reaching above shoulder, sitting, or standing for extended periods and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer terminal and other
office equipment.

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in any discipline AND one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment

Licenses and Certificates
A valid California Class “C” driver’s license.

Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office environment with some travel to different sites; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends. Travel to locations throughout the District may be required.
