We are looking for a skilled Assistant Director of Nursing Faculty (ADN): Clinical/Capstone to supervise nursing faculty and help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the nursing program at clinical sites. The ADN will work with faculty who interface with clinical education, education, programs, training, certification, and research publications. The Assistant Director of Nursing Faculty is responsible for providing input in the areas of staffing, scheduling, supporting, and evaluating faculty, for the appropriate direction of student inquiries, and for the individual and collective professional development for nursing programs. The Assistant Director of Nursing Faculty has authority to guide employees and to achieve and maintain standards of excellence in teaching to ensure students derive the most optimal benefits from each learning experience. This position is located on our state-of-the-art campus in Draper, Utah.

WHAT YOU DO EVERYDAY:

• Participate on the hiring team for faculty
• Provide input for the faculty assignments each term
• Plan and participate in regularly scheduled faculty development meetings
• Evaluate performance of faculty members as it pertains to their professional development and student engagement using observations and relevant data such as end of course surveys and course pass rates
• Conduct faculty semester reviews
• Conduct weekly 1:1s with assigned faculty
• Conduct faculty annual reviews and create an individual annual faculty professional development plan
• Provide input to the Nursing Clinical Program Chairs for the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum
• Direct student inquiries to the appropriate academic nursing leader
• Assist students with faculty related inquiries
• Provide input for departmental succession planning
• Review student absence withdrawal form submissions
• Evaluate performance of content leads and provide support for development as needed
• Review institutional and program policies, procedure, and publications
• Coordinate efforts with administration to ensure that the program is compliant with institutional accreditation standards
• Participate in weekly coordination and planning meetings as needed
• Successfully represent the University and nursing programs to state and national regulatory and accreditation agencies
• Supervise clinical sections as assigned by the Nursing Clinical Program Chair.
• Approve faculty absences and assist in coverage arrangements as needed.
• Ensure student grades are entered in a timely manner in accordance with policy
• Identify issues and questions of concern in the clinical environment. Provide detailed summaries of data to support conclusions and requests as needed in written, verbal, or presentation mode.
• Assist in maintaining affiliation with American Heart Association and oversee the organization and delivery of class offerings for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support as well as Instructor certification in all of those courses
• Perform payroll approval and completion in the Human Resources system
• Maintain office hours that are approved by the Nursing Clinical Program Chair
• Attend graduation, pinning, and other college events as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Additional Functions for Capstone Leaders

• Orient students and faculty to the capstone expectations
• Create and nurture positive relationships with clinical partners
• Ensure the necessary resources are in place for appropriate clinical and preceptor placements
• Comply with and enforce all policies and standard operating procedures
• Ensure that affiliation agreements are fully executed and renewed in a timely manner
• Schedule students for clinical sites where course outcomes can be achieved
• Actively recruit qualified preceptors for the Capstone experience
• Speak with each preceptor at least once per week
• Meet with each capstone student at least three times per semester
• Monitor the effectiveness of clinical sites in meeting students’ learning outcomes

License: Registered Nurse in the State of Utah

Five or more years of simulation instruction/management

Certifications

American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Instructor (Required after six months of employment)
