Job Description:
Work Location: The position will be primarily located at the School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences (SPESS), LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Position Description: This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position with 70% research 30% teaching appointment. Candidates are sought with the vision and expertise to develop and lead an innovative research program that advances integrated weed management and incorporates state-of-the-art weed management technologies. The candidate must communicate with commodity and agricultural industry partners to identify, develop, and implement critical research projects. The selected candidate is expected to obtain extramural funding to support research, mentor graduate students, communicate research results at professional meetings, and publish in refereed journals. Collaboration with research and extension faculty in Louisiana, and with national experts on issues of shared interest and importance, is expected. Participation in multi-disciplinary, regional, and national research initiatives is essential. The candidate will mentor graduate students and post-doctoral scientists in weed science; participate in undergraduate advising and recruiting activities; and contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching of weed science and crop production courses.
Qualification Requirements: A Ph.D. in weed science or other closely related field of study is required. Applications should have demonstrated effective oral, written, and electronic communication skills necessary for presentations to a variety of audiences.
Evidence of successful grantsmanship, research activity, stakeholder interaction, and teaching experience will be important considerations. The ability to multi-task and work in a team environment with research, extension, and teaching faculty representing other disciplines is critical.
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
