THIRA Health seeks a full-time Art Therapist/Recreational Therapist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expressive group therapies in a model compatible with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for women and adolescent girls in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient settings, supporting milieu setting/activities, and coordinating the development of all Expressive Arts components of THIRA’s programming.

Job Requirements:

• Lead and oversee all patient expressive therapies groups; Serve as the point person for THIRA and the Clinical Team to respond to Expressive Therapies operation questions and issues
• Assist Clinical Director with the coordination and development of the expressive therapies programs for IOP and PHP
• Maintain all current patient’s expressive art creations; create art portfolios for patients as needed
• Track and maintain expressive arts activity inventory; order supplies as needed and track in budget
• Prepare and clean up all expressive therapies spaces in adherence to the infection prevention and control guidelines as well as other cleanliness/safety standards
• Assist in onboarding of new staff and training efforts for Expressive Therapies as assigned by the Clinical Director and/or Clinical Operations Coordinator
• Support crisis intervention services inclusive of de-escalating dysregulated patients and mediating conflicts between patients
• Utilize Electronic Medical Record to complete clinical documentation in a timely manner
• Provide supportive and DBT-skill-based milieu intervention to patients, promoting application and generalization of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including other mental health therapists, prescribing clinicians, registered dieticians (RD), and nursing staff, regarding treatment planning, assessing progress, and discharge planning

Required Experience:

• Masters in Art Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, or related therapy field
• Registered with the Art Therapy Credentials Boards (ATCB) or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification, or license/credential eligible
• Experience facilitating Expressive Therapy groups and developing curriculum/activities
• Ability to demonstrate proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 by 10/18/21 or date of hire if after 10/18/21. Reasonable accommodations will be considered.

Preferred Experience:

• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and/or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) knowledge and experience
• Experience working in PHP, IOP, or IPU environment

Our Chief Finance & Operations Officer, David Krekel-Zoppi, came to THIRA after nearly a decade at Virginia Mason Medical Center and more recently having managed business and operations with Dr. Mehri Moore at The Moore Center. THIRA’s Medical Director, Dr. Tuesday Burns, brings a diverse array of clinical and academic experiences with specialty in issues related to women’s health, hormones, PMDD, menopause, and gender transitions. Our Clinical Director, Sarah Skoterro, provides expertise in DBT, addictions, integrated care systems & family processes to serve our patients and support our clinical team.
