The Architectural Drafter/Designer, otherwise known at Stevens as a Product Design Engineer, will design and develop new products or will re-design existing products. This is a particularly rewarding design position as the Product Design Engineer will follow the new product throughout the production process to ensure successful and efficient manufacturing of the product. The Product Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing layouts, details, and drawings, and will be expected to make decisions regarding the design and function of these products using knowledge of Stevens specified products, materials, and production processes (once training is completed).

Duties include:

• Performing design functions to develop new or re-design existing company products.
• Determining and establishing specifications.
• Responsible for accuracy of design, bills of materials, and routings of designated product lines.
• Responsible for accuracy of engineering prototypes prior to producing customer orders.
• Communicating with vendors to obtain information and assistance for the various components needed for the new products.
• Providing engineering problem solving in manufacturing issues for existing products.

Requirements Include:

• 2 or 4 year degree in Architectural Design, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or similar fields. Equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered
• Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and architectural drafting
• Ability to read complex drawings and specifications
• Ability to work independently and prioritize projects
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers
