Particle Measuring Systems (PMS) sets the standard for cleanroom contamination monitoring. With more than 60 patents, we create the technology that enables our customers to make fact-based decisions, improve process yields and comply with ever-changing regulatory requirements.
The Role
The primary mission of the Applications Engineer is to ensure pre- and post-sales technical support for customers of the Electronics Division. The next is to develop particle and contamination monitoring solutions to help customers to solve yield problems in the microelectronics, display, and other clean industrial segments and to identify future business opportunities.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Pre-sales technical support:
  • Work with the field team to provide product presentations and technical discussions to understand customers' needs.
  • Prepare, execute demonstrations, and explore new products and complex, competitive head-to-head evaluations, including new application development (e.g., new materials/use cases/features, etc.)
  • Review the technical risk, the probability of success, and application initiatives' implementation plans to maximize success and resource efficiency.
Post-sales technical support:
  • Collaborate with the field team to deploy product commissioning and installation at customer sites to ensure smooth running.
  • Work with the HQ, service, and engineering team to troubleshoot complex product/process/site-related issues affecting product performance and assist customers in improving existing monitor/control methodology.
  • Develop and provide internal and external training programs to implement new and existing product applications and roll them out successfully. Act as an effective communication bridge between the HQ and the field.
  • Document the tracking and collateral materials for internal (knowledge sharing, product development, technical note, etc.) and external marketing (application notes, conference papers, webinars, blogs, etc.) purposes.
  • Supervise and comply with EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) policies and procedures set forth by the government, industry, customer, and company.
Strategic:
  • Work with the field team and the HQ to collect and analyze the CI (competition intelligence) to develop and implement offensive and defensive strategies and understand the impact on PMS sales for all major product lines.
  • Participate in VoC (voice of customer) and technology road-mapping initiatives to support new product and business development projects.
  • Deep dive on customers' current monitor/control gaps + marketing research to explore possible fixes/improvements/new use cases) by leveraging existing technology/knowledge/brainstorming to create new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • The candidate requires a bachelor's degree in Physics, Materials, Environmental, Engineering, or related fields. Advanced degrees (Master's, Ph.D.) would be a plus.
  • Experienced candidate (>= 5 years) with relevant backgrounds/skills in the semiconductor/ultra-pure-water/gas delivery systems/factory facility/facility monitoring systems (FMS)/ as the relative technical roles (e.g., applications/control/process/equipment engineer) is preferred.
  • Specific knowledge of semiconductor yield drivers, processes, and materials is desirable.
  • Strong verbal, presentation, and documentation in English is a must. Fluency in other languages is a plus. Problem-solving skills are required.
  • A proven track record of cross-functional and cross-cultural achievement is a plus.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills with customers and peer groups to generate positive influences are essential traits to be successful in this role.
  • Be a self-driven and independent contributor while being a strong team player.
The Nuts and Bolts
Location –This is an “in-office” position 80% of the time with COVID-19 precautions being taken. The location of this position is in Boulder, Colorado. The other 20% of the time you may work from home. These percentages are targets with the actual schedule to be determined in conjunction with the Hiring Manager. Relocation may be offered for this role, but local candidates will receive first consideration.

Pay Range
$85000 - 130000 depending upon experience
How we determine what we pay (compensation philosophy)
Particle Measuring Systems determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for the Boulder, Colorado area. We will evaluate external equity, which is the relative marketplace job worth of jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we to make competitive offers between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. This allows the new employee room for future merit increases during review cycles. There may be times when we will offer above the midpoint. The decision to do so will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and the compensation rates of the employees within the company doing the same position.
