Under the supervision of the Director of Customer Service, the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Program Manager provides functional support, oversight and data analysis on all metering software, hardware, and infrastructure. The AMI Program Manager is supports multiple applications covering device management, field services work order management, manual meter reading, route optimization, and meter testing. Collaborates with IT staff regarding upgrades and maintenance and with the vendors and Customer Service management on device failures and planned replacements.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Manages the AMI program deployment activities and change management.
  • Serves as the functional lead for upgrades, enhancements, and system integrations.
  • Leads AMI vendor selection, field deployment, and vendor quality control.
  • Provides day-to-day contractor management during deployment.
  • Interacts with a diverse team of business users, process owners, and development teams to ensure effective application use while enhancing user experience, productivity and efficiency.
  • Creates and executes a change management plan.
  • Develops user manuals and assists in the development of training materials. Provides guidance, instruction and training for all employees.
  • Understands the relationship of the customer systems and data within the application portfolio and with other integrated systems such as HxGN Enterprise Asset Management and Esri GIS.
  • Troubleshoots data and system errors to ensure timely and accurate billing of metered customer accounts. Works with IT staff and system vendors through resolution.
  • Creates and runs periodic reports (daily, weekly, monthly) to monitor response rates of the AMI system. Monitors AMI device failures and resolves directly or creates work order for follow up in field.
  • Serves as a liaison to the Billing and Meter Shop departments to diagnose accounts with chronic repeated estimated meter reads and provide solutions to improve AMI transmission.
  • Participates in the budget and planning process on purchases of new AMI devices, water meters, and hardware used in conjunction with existing or new software.

Required Knowledge
, Skills, and Abilities
  • Skill in performing statistical and data analysis. Must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
  • DBA or advanced database query skills is preferred.
  • Understanding of Meter Operations, Billing, and Customer operations.
  • A proven ability to learn new techniques and processes quickly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Project Management or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years of experience in information systems and technology, data analysis, or meter operations.
  • Project Management Profession (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in managing projects is preferred.

Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
