SUMMARY:

The East-West Center is accepting applications for a full-time, two-year limited position, with possibility for extension, as Alumni Network Specialist in the Office of Alumni Engagement. The Alumni Network Specialist is responsible for developing the international alumni network through virtual communications, events, platforms and other tools. This position is responsible for maintaining pathways for alumni-to-alumni and alumni-to-staff communication through user-friendly platforms with accurate, relevant, and current information about alumni. This position will propose, develop, and implement a vision for engaging virtual events and activities with alumni that strengthen their connection to each other and the Center. This position is responsible for OAE messaging and engagement via social media, newsletter and listserv, including content creation, data visualization and other graphics, in collaboration with the EWC Communications and External Relations Office.


The East-West Center promotes better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific through cooperative study, research, and dialogue.

The Office of Alumni Engagement works to keep alumni informed, engaged, and connected with East-West Center programs and staff through the East-West Center Association. East-West Center Association (EWCA) is an international network of 68,000 professionals who have a past affiliation with the East-West Center.


SUPERVISION:

Works under the general supervision of the Director of the OAE.


MAJOR DUTIES:

Online program development: Duties and responsibilities include creating and maintaining existing benefits of engaging in the EWCA, including education, professional development, and networking opportunities in collaboration with OAE staff, designing and implementing online programs and activities that are attractive to a diverse, global alumni chapters and EWC programs and designing and delivering of the online track of hybrid events in collaboration with staff running the in-person event.


Network development and maintenance:
Duties and responsibilities include identifying and maintaining platforms accessible throughout the region, for alumni to find and communicate with each other and with EWC staff. This includes using multiple ongoing strategies including mass campaigns, collaboration with chapters, contacting individual alumni, encouraging alumni to join platforms and educating them on best practices and ensuring alumni contact information, professional interests and engagement preferences are up to date.


Communications:
Duties and responsibilities include creating an effective communications strategy, tailored for different segments of a diverse, global network, in collaboration with the EWC Communications and External Relations Office, identifying and implementing new tools and platforms as well as improving existing platforms including listserv, website, and social media, creating graphics and data visualizations, along with text content of OAE communications and ensuring two-way engagement with a diverse range of alumni throughout the communications strategy.


Administrative tasks:
Duties and responsibilities include managing administrative tasks related to major duties and projects such as identifying and selecting products and contractors, estimating budget needs, maintaining project timelines and deadlines under the supervision of the Director, managing team communications, project management tools, and other administrative requirements of projects within scope of duties, being proficient in database software, applications, and platforms used by OAE and being able to train and trouble-shoot with EWC staff on OAE-specific tools introduced.


WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and be able to sit or stand at a desk working on computers for prolonged periods


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience from which comparable knowledge and ability can be acquired. Five years of full-time experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position, or a combination of graduate education or professional development and directly related experience which totals five years.


Demonstrated Ability

  • Experience working in international settings, preferably in Asia Pacific
  • Experience using virtual platforms and tools for network development
  • Experience with hybrid and virtual event production
  • Demonstrated accuracy and work experience with data management
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience with graphic creation and data visualization
  • Strong presentation and speaking skills in both small and large groups
  • Ability to independently lead and manage projects that produce results by deadline
  • Ability to work effectively with a team to address conflicts and reach outcomes
  • Adaptable to changing demands of an office and team
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Access, and Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge (or other database systems)

SALARY: $62,233.74 per year which includes a cost-of-living allowance (COLA) currently at 9.75% (subject to change) and an attractive total compensation package.
