We are pleased to announce the opening for an MDA Advanced Air and Missile Engineer, who will join our Engineering Services Division in Huntsville, AL and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, and space control marketspaces. The system assessment team supports engineering specialist in the assessment of capabilities and limitations of the Missile Defense System (MDS) to enable well informed decisions. The candidate will work closely with Missile Defense Systems Elements engineering staff, other functional groups, and data analyst to deliver high quality and accurate information to facilitate decisions by the highest level of MDA leadership and Geographical Commanders. Ensure system under test is correctly characterized, capabilities and limitations accurately documented and understood.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

You will develop plans and requirements to support testing and assessments of glide phase intercept and hypersonic missile development. You will also assess technical performance for flight and ground test analysis. The candidate will provide recommendations on the additions and improvements of the Missile Defense Systems. You will be contributing to and may lead the planning and implementation of large programs in the function, and regularly interfaces with senior management and executive leadership. This position plays a role in overall functional strategic planning.
Here’s what you’ll need:

You must have a Master’s degree in a STEM field with 12+ years experience in engineering for missile defense related programs. You must be familiar with Air and Missile Defense concepts. The individual must have experience in requirements development, development of verification objectives, and development of test objectives, support the Joint Analysis Team (JAT) and serve as system engineering interface to external teams. • Ability to plan and to execute required support, develop clear and concise written products, and present MDS technical matters to MDA senior leaders and MDA warfighter working group meetings in support of MDA/System Assessment.
Applicable experience includes Ballistic Missile Defense, Missile Defense System, Integrated Air and Missile Defense, Ground-based Midcourse Defense, Homeland Defense, THAAD, AEGIS BMD, C2BMC, Hypersonic Missile Defense, System-level Engineering Analysis, Architecture Assessment, Threat Analysis, International Engineering This candidate needs to have the ability to create a positive, collaborative working relationship with representatives and stakeholders for external organizations You will need to demonstrate understanding of system architecture and the GMD Weapons Systems. Also you will need proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Finally, you must possess or have the ability to obtain an active US Secret clearance. Lacking any one of these disqualifies you from this job.

Other qualifications we hope you bring to the table:

  • Ability to think critically (i.e., research, understand, analyze, synthesize and critique)
  • Experience with missiles interceptors, hypersonic/RF/Radar Sensors, detection/tracking, hypersonic vehicles.

Remote work option?
No, this position does not have the option for remote work. MDA is currently operating in a partial telework status due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. When this period ends, all work is expected to be conducted on site at Redstone Arsenal.
