POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Admissions Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Zoo’s Guest Relations and Membership offices, as well as assisting the department managers with various customer service and sales training programs.

Departmental Operations
  • Supervising the quality of customer service in Guest Relations, Memberships, and Admissions.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for guest membership questions and concerns.
  • Assisting the department managers in implementing membership sales programs designed to meet or exceed budgeted sales expectations.
  • Protecting the Zoo from loss by following cash-handling policies as prescribed by the Kansas City Zoo.
  • Assisting the department managers in the creation, scheduling, and implementation of various training programs with the goal of improving guest and employee experiences.
  • Assisting the department managers in the creation and implementation of staff morale building activities and special incentive promotions.

Customer Service
  • Greeting and welcoming all guests, assuring that each guest is treated with fairness and respect.
  • Assisting with all guests’ needs, including questions, inquiries and Zoo directives.
  • Maintaining an updated and thorough knowledge of all aspects of the Kansas City Zoo in order to answer guest questions and promote zoo programs and events.
  • Representing the zoo as one of the first major opportunities to establish a positive experience for the guest.
  • Modeling superior customer service for fellow team members and those of other departments.

Interdepartmental Cooperation
  • Assisting in the general cleanliness of the Zoo grounds.
  • Being willing and ready to assist other departments to provide a seamless guest experience.
  • Studies and understands zoo protocol on emergency procedures and safety issues.
  • Abiding by all FOTZ policies, procedures and operational directives.
  • To always reflect and maintain the best integrity of the Kansas City Zoo and enforce its family-friendly environment.

  • This position may at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Associates degree or more preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE:
    • 1-3 years’ customer service experience required.
    • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with all types of people.
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, preferred.
    • Experience with POS and cash register systems preferred.
  • OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
    • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
    • Must pass a background and drug screening.
