The Role Itself

The Admissions Nurse is responsible for assisting in the admission/intake process for all patients. This includes coordinating all intake requests with Liaisons, Emergency Rooms, Nursing Facilities, and physicians.

Verifying insurances and obtaining authorizations as necessary, working with internal staff to determine preparedness for incoming patient, and communicating admission as necessary. May assist the admission coordinator in maintaining and communicating accurate census records including admissions, discharges, room changes, transfers, etc. Responsible for working closely with all Payors and customers, ensuring accurate knowledge of facility, services provided and outcomes.

The Admissions Nurse is responsible for completing a Level of Care Assessment on all patients. They will report all findings to attending Psychiatrist to make sure patients meet admission criteria.

Essential Functions:

• Assumes primary responsibility for admission assessments.
• Ensures that all documentation regarding client care, treatment, and incidents is done in a clear, concise, professional, and timely manor.
• Acts as liaison between referral sources and provider.
• May conduct family interviews and provide for referrals to appropriate resources.
• Provides crisis intervention to clients as needed.
• Acts as liaison with insurance carriers as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Teamwork, flexibility needed to fulfill job responsibilities, adapting to changes in work environment and accepting supervisory feedback.
• Adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines affecting the work environment, as well as maintenance of required competencies and communications skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $41.00 per hour
