SUMMARY

The Administrative Support Specialist will provide support and information to Locally Employed (LE) Staff on a range of issues and facilitate ongoing outreach and support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides support and information to LE Staff on a range of issues including HR (status of employment, pay, etc.), visa status, potential employment, etc. The information will be provided by the Bureau of Global Talent Management (GTM), Bureau of Consular Affairs and other bureaus as appropriate.
  • Collects information including location statistics from LE Staff to help maintain a head count and facilitate ongoing outreach and support.
  • Raises concerns to site coordinators, and other Department staff as appropriate.
  • Relays evacuation requests to relevant task force and work with Kabul staff on movement of LE staff outside of Afghanistan.
  • Connects with the Bureau of Administration Office of the Procurement Executive (A/OPE) or other offices and bureaus regarding employer support.
  • Maintains simple databases.
  • Provides periodic reports to the Government Technical Monitor for dissemination to appropriate bureaus and offices.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

  • This position will not have supervisory or management authority

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least one year experience working in an embassy or consulate, preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must pass a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) determination
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office suite)
  • English language (written and spoken) communications skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities and work well in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $ 77,677.00 - $77,677.60 annually

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
