Summary of Position:
The Administrative Coordinator – Security ensures Barton Health maintains a safe and secure environment for employees, patients, and visitors by conducting hazard assessments, safety inspections, safety/security training, emergency incident response, and program monitoring.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:
  • Two (2) years security and/or law enforcement experience required.
  • Proficiency in use of computers, business software systems (i.e. G-Suite or MS Office) and web based safety/security applications required.
  • Experience with security systems (access control, video surveillance, mass notification, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare safety and security programs preferred.
  • Experience in training, classroom instruction, or adult education preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ICS and emergency preparedness, preferably with demonstrable experience managing critical incidents preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently, maintain composure, and make sound judgements during stressful situations.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • Ability to work various shifts, extended hours, and/or overtime as required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
  • Strong coaching and feedback skills.
  • Ability to present information in a manner that engages learners and enables them to understand and retain the message.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills for a multi-demand and multi-priority environment.

Certifications/Licensure:
  • CA BSIS Security Guard or Proprietary Private Security Officer license within 90 days of hire.
  • Current California or Nevada Driver's License with clean driving record.
  • Incident Command System (I.C.S.) Certifications 100, 200, 700 and 800 required within 120 days of hire.
  • HAZWOPER 40 certification within 120 days of hire.

Essential Functions
  • Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.
  • Collaborates with the department manager to develop, prepare, and implement safety, security, and emergency management programs and procedures.
  • Performs routine and post incident site safety inspections across all Barton Health facilities. Assists the department manager with annual safety, security, and environment of care (EOC) hazard vulnerability assessments.
  • Monitors daily activities and scheduling of security personnel, ensuring no lapse in coverage. Covers shift gaps as necessary.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in the development, scheduling, execution, and evaluation of tabletop, functional, and full scale emergency drills and exercises.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and security issues.
  • Conducts organizational training on various workplace safety and security topics to include workplace violence prevention, hazardous material management/response, security operations, and emergency management.
  • Coordinates the purchase, maintenance, and routine inventory of safety, security, and emergency management supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains safety, security, and emergency management files and training documentation.
  • Develops meeting agendas and minutes for EOC and safety related committees.
  • Responds to emergencies, alarms, or other situations that could result in harm to patients, guests, employees, or Barton Health property.
  • Reviews security team incident reports for timeliness and accuracy.
  • Operates and assists with the maintenance of surveillance, intrusion detection, and access control systems.
  • Actively participates in safety & security incident investigations and debriefings when required.
  • Participates as a member of the Hospital Incident Management Team during exercises and actual emergencies/disasters.
  • Assists with the maintenance and routine testing of the organization’s mass notification system.
  • Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary.
