- Must have successful experience with standards-based education.
- Experience leading turnaround schools preferred.
- Articulate a sense of vision and mission for the school and community consistent with the district's mission and focus.
- Promote elements of a professional learning community within the school.
- Demonstrate instructional leadership, assuring that resources are utilized to maximize standards-based instruction for all students and enforcing district standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze and use data to drive school-wide instructional decisions.
- Develop educational interventions to improve student performance.
- Demonstrate communication and relationship skills to develop open, trusting relationships among faculty, students and community members.
- Facilitate collaborative decision-making with staff and community.
- Ensure well articulated programs for student discipline and attendance.
- Evaluate and supervise certified and classified employees in accordance with board policy and procedures.
- Demonstrate administrative characteristics that initiate, facilitate and promote organizational effectiveness.
- Promote and support the professional growth and development of classified and certified staff through coaching and feedback cycles.
- Communicate effectively with parents and promote effective parental involvement to improve student achievement.
