Brown and Caldwell, a nationally recognized environmental engineering and consulting firm, has an opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in our Lakewood, CO office. We are looking for an individual that is detailed oriented, thrives in a dynamic work environment, and whose enthusiasm and organization will contribute to the success of a high-performance team.

As a Finance and Accounting team member, the Accounts Payable Specialist will assist with provider disbursements for the company. This includes performing daily accounts payable functions such as verifying coding, entering, scanning, and filing vendor invoices. This position processes a high volume of weekly invoices, approximately 500 per week.

Detailed Description:

  • Input vendor invoices into the accounts payable system
  • Match/verify vendor invoices to checks prior to mailing
  • Process other direct cost and expense transfers
  • Process new vendor setups
  • Sort, scan, and file accounts payable documents
  • Research and resolve vendor inquiries
  • Assist with account reconciliations and cross-functional team inquiries.
  • Research and track accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies for accounts payable

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years of accounts payable experience, specifically invoice processing preferred
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and integrated accounts payable systems preferred
  • Must be professional, poised, detail-oriented, highly organized, a self-starter, dependable, able to multi-task, and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience reviewing employee expense reports for correct coding and reimbursement in accordance with established company guidelines is a plus.
  • Strong 10-key and data entry skills
  • Strong Purchase Order invoice processing
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to successfully follow established procedures while completing assigned tasks accurately, timely, and consistently
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism with the ability to develop good working relationships with personnel in all departments and levels
  • Able to self-review work
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Logical reasoning, high emotional intelligence
  • Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending on skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $21.30/hr - $29.30/hr
