Accountant I/Accounts Payable Bookkeeper

Contract until: 02/02/2024
Onsite: Monday thru Friday 8:00AM to 4:00 PM
Rate: 18.63/hr + sick leave
Reviews and accurately processes MMARS documents consistent with the regulations of the Commonwealth and within guidelines established in the Business Office while maintaining high standards of customer support with vendors, co-workers, and other staff.
- Performs agency payment activities including preparing receipt vouchers, responding to inquiries regarding assigned agency functions, reviewing invoices for payment, and conferring with others concerning accounting-related matters.
- Reconciles financial documents, records, transactions, and statements to ensure conformance with established standards. Meets with appropriate managers to review data as needed.
- Confers with agency personnel and outside agencies by telephone, in writing, or in person to resolve accounting discrepancies and/or obtain documentation necessary to meet State Accounting requirements.
- Review encumbrances prior to payment processing and ensures required documentation is provided for agency filing.
- Determine projected expenditures and advise appropriate managers.
