OVERVIEW:It is an exciting time for RED VELVET, as we have pivoted to the Agency model and are focusing on experience strategy, fostering strong client relationships and end-to-end brand solutions via digital, hybrid and live experiences. To bring this vision to bear, we are looking to round out our Business Development team with the addition of an exceptional Account Manager or Sr. Account Manager. This role is key to helping build and maintain valued relationships between our clients and the agency. A successful Account Manager (or Sr. Account Manager) at RED VELVET is a strategist, a brand champion, an agency facilitator and an opportunist who not only ensures his/her account’s health is maintained, but that it grows as well. (S)he demonstrates the ability to leverage key tenets of client and project management via experience/event (program) definition, scope management, risk management, team management and conflict resolution. This role is responsible for sizable book of work (up to five large accounts and numerous smaller ones depending on level of experience and aptitude) and will report to the VP of Strategy and Growth. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and steward the proposal process, properly aligning to the approach and proposal contents in accordance with client expectations and a way that meets RED VELVET creative and executional standards; pricing strategy and budget management; successfully sell program through to client, managing expectations of both agency and client to ensure alignment amongst both parties at the outset of the program
  • Remain informed of high-level execution of all work streams so as to provide on-going consultation and/or guidance to clients throughout a program and client relationship
  • Step in to help run interference or arbitrate with client and agency if there are issues with budget, timelines, deliverables or expectations (pod-specifically)
  • Serve as point-person for mid-senior client from an overarching client-management/ health standpoint
  • Sets the tone for the working relationship between RED VELVET and client team
  • Possesses and demonstrates thorough knowledge of the dynamics and workings of his/her clients’ business, including clients’ industry and competitive landscape and how to navigate, client’s political structure, and keeps team informed
  • Lead interface with clients, creative teams and professional services team; actively manages and communicates changes to situations, inputs, directions to team and client when appropriate
  • Acts on behalf of client and brand, making final call (only if necessary) on what is presented to/sold into clients based on objectivity from client/brand POV
  • Monitors on-strategy, on-time/on-budget program performance and escalates as necessary
  • Challenges direction, or the status quo, and seeks alternative perspectives and approaches in developing effective program strategies with the client
  • Benchmarks results and aligns to KPIs for each program
  • Has a strong presence and is a great presenter
  • Ensures a client is receiving of our hospitality
  • Demonstrates a pervasive knowledge of client and agency operations and working knowledge of agency processes and capabilities
  • Actively applies conflict management tools and techniques (e.g., proactively scenario-plans, escalates when there are issues, over-communicates to team, etc.)
  • Has a firm handle on value-based pricing and knows how to price our programs to ensure company remains profitable based on company goals
  • Actively seeks opportunities to build clients’ business (and RED VELVET’s business) by recommending new, fresh, incremental ideas
  • Works integrally with other agency departments to develop effective win strategies, briefings, creative and strategic work
  • Partners with marketing team to ensure programs are captured in most compelling way for marketing efforts (social media, web, case studies) via photography and film, when possible
