Tends machine that performs one or more packaging functions, such as filling containers, capping, and sealing. Sets, manages, and maintains container fill volumes through use of scales and visual aids. Sets runs speeds based off of line standards and collects line data. Fills and refills cap hopper with proper cap listed on production schedule. Maintains labels on labeler and assures placement of labels. Comply with all GMP, Safety Procedures, Company Policies, Quality Policies, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points as they apply to this position.

  • Start up and check automated equipment for preventative maintenance issues, proper set up, and operation. Perform minor maintenance and adjustments as needed. Pre-Shift preparation, ensure all surfaces that contact product, are clean and ready for operation.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions to determine root cause. Requires knowledge of electro/mechanical/pneumatic functions as well as proper operating conditions including air pressure, electrical eye alignment and machine settings. Interpret machine error codes.
  • Fill and refill cap hopper. Perform fill weights. Change out labels on labeler as needed.
Validates and verifies for labeling on containers. Ensure proper label is being applied to container using the daily production schedule. Verify all containers produced fall within all customer requirements.
  • Properly complete and turn in all associated paperwork on a daily basis.
  • Maintains daily operational housekeeping duties.
  • Other duties as required.


Job Requirements:


Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D. and at least 4 years manufacturing.
Preferred: Food Plant Experience

Must be able to read and communicate in the "English Language" in order to execute production. Must be able to weigh containers, record fill weight data legibly, and calculate fill weight average. Requires a good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure food safety. Must be able to lift up to 50 Lbs in order to dump bottle or Jar caps into hopper.


Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Additional demands may be required.


Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
