Purpose of Position: The V3 program consists of an employer/company assessment, training, and support program; and a certification program as prescribed by Code of Virginia §2.2-2001.2 This position will report to the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Regional Assistant Directors and in the absence of this position, the V3 Deputy Director or other staff member as assigned by the Director.

With limited supervision, the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Transition Coordinator will assist with and supervise the execution of the planning, directing, administering, and coordination of services and resources required to position the Commonwealth to better address the employment opportunities for Virginia’s Veterans population. The V3 Transition Coordinator will plan, direct, and coordinate activities to make and keep the Commonwealth of Virginia the most Veteran and military family state in the nation and to encourage transitioning service members and their families to stay, work and raise a family in Virginia.

The V3 North Transition Coordinator will address the transition, employment, training, education, and entrepreneurial opportunities of Transitioning Service Members, Veterans, military spouses, dependents and serving members of the National Guard and Reserve components in the assigned geographical area. The duties and responsibilities of the position will include developing and fostering relationships with regional partners in both the public and private sectors, planning and executing events related to employment, workforce development and transition. In addition, this position will represent the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Program/or DVS in regional efforts to support objectives, programming and agency directives. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating the administration of duties and operations with V3 headquarters staff; networking with community partners; assisting with daily planning, administration, scheduling employment and transition support services; event coordination; data entry; planning the use of materials; case management and supportive services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • .Demonstrated knowledge of administrative and business principles, practices, and procedures in human resources, recruiting, and training, especially as they pertain to the employment and retention of veterans
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and agency rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to veteran, spouse or dependent employment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and agency rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to veteran transition
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local transition resources and programs for veterans, spouses and dependents
  • Demonstrated experience with data entry, case management and reporting
  • Effective interaction with diverse constituencies and inter-agency government officials to discuss administrative matters, develop, and implement administrative policies and procedures
  • Proven research in best practices on recruiting, hiring and retaining the military community
  • Ability to effectively use software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, social media platforms, LinkedIn, and the internet as an information and networking tools
